CloudCleanup Help

CloudCleanup is an application designed to optimize files and folders for uploading to cloud services.
As different cloud services have different limitations you can choose what changes you want to make.

Download CloudCleanup

Select the actions you want CloudCleanup to perform

        Delete Files and Folder

            By file extension (i.e. .cot files

                Enter file extensions (without the dot) separated by a comma and space ‘, ‘

            By exact folder name (i.e. Render Files)

                Enter folder names separated by a comma and space ‘, ‘

            Delete all symbolic links and aliases (as the service can’t confirm where these point they get broken)


        Zip bundle file types such as photolibraries, fcpbundles, and keynote bundles

            These files often lose their “bundle bit” when uploaded which breaks the file from being opened on restore

                Enter bundle extensions (without the dot) separated by a comma and space ‘, ‘


        Remove special characters and emojis from files and folders

            Select from some known cloud provider settings or create your own

            Remove emoji

            Remove leading and trailing spaces

            If the changes would result in a file or folder with no name, the item will be named _no_name[.ext]

                If the renamed file would conflict with an existing file, you will be prompted to provide a new name.


        Zip and split large files. The various cloud providers have limits to the size of files that can be uploaded

            Set a size and CloudCleanup will create a split zip file for any files that are too large

                These files end up as a series of .z01, .z02, etc, .zip files

                Archive Utility won’t open them directly, but The Unarchiver will

Provide the Source Directory you want to work on (click the folder button, or drag to the text field).

Click “Create Report” to generate the list of changes CloudCleanup would perform.

Click “Clean Up” to have CloudCleanup make the changes.

You can View Log while the work is progressing or once the job is done.  

The log can be exported to save the list of what would be/was modified.

The Reset button will get CloudCleanup ready to process the next folder you point it at.

No personal data and no data at all are collected by CloudCleanup (except crash reports submitted by users).
